WELCOME TO THE NEW INDOOR SPORTS FACILITIES

The Olympic Stadium will be hosting an event Helsinki Liikkuu on 21–24 September. During these four days, you have the opportunity to see and move in the new underground indoor sports facilities of the Olympic Stadium: the facilities in use include Sports Hall 1 (size 977 m²), Sports Hall 2 (size 565 m²) and Sports Hall 3 (size 321 m²). On each of the four event days, we are offering various instructed activities for children, young people, families and adults.

The Helsinki Liikkuu event offers a selection of EasySport activities for children in grades 1–6, cardio and strength workouts for adults, cheerleading, circus tricks and gymnastics for families with children, acrobatics and tricks for children, and coordination and dance/gym classes for adults. The morning of Thursday 24 September will be a special one: you can join family activities, play floorball, do gymnastics, and finally try a hobbyhorse track and even meet ponies in the event square.

The activities will have their own designated entrance. You will be guided towards the underground sports facilities from the Stadium Tower. The storage space for prams and pushchairs is outside the stadium. Please see the arrival information here.

Due to the coronavirus restrictions and regulations, only visitors with a pre-purchased ticket may access the Olympic Stadium. You can purchase tickets at lippu.fi for the price of the processing fee, €1. You must purchase a ticket via lippu.fi for each class. The tickets are available at lippu.fi. The number of tickets is limited, so act fast!

Monday 21 September
16:30–17:30, Gymnasium 1, 125 tickets available
Name of the class: EasySport tricks
Class content: Easy activities for children in grades 1–6. In the EasySport trick classes, you can practise various tricks using your body and trick tracks; we will also play games together.

Class content: Basics of acrobatics and jumps under expert guidance. The class consists of warm-ups, coordination exercises, jumps and arm movements.

Class content: In the parent & child gymnastics class, we will practise movements in pairs with a playful approach.

Class content: In the class, you can run, play, do tricks on a track or play games with your family and the instructors. You will have free access to various sports equipment.

Class content: Introduction to competitive cheerleading for girls, boys, men and women of all ages.

Names of the morning classes: Family activities, floorball, gymnastics, hobbyhorses and ponies
Content of the morning classes: You will have 90 minutes to tour the activity points: circus tricks, floorball, gymnastics with rhythmic gymnastic equipment, outdoor hobbyhorse track, and meeting and taking selfies with ponies.

Name of the class: Gymnastics and tricks (ages 3–6)
Class content: Artistic gymnastics and tricks class. Introduction to the basic skills of artistic gymnastics, tricks, and exercises that develop coordination and agility. For girls and boys aged 3–6.
Instructed by: Voimisteluseura Helsinki ry. Please note that the shower facilities in the locker rooms of the Olympic Stadium will not be available during Helsinki’s Physical Activity event.

Guidelines for participants:

We want to emphasise everyone’s individual responsibility for following the instructions of the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and other authorities regarding hygiene and other arrangements to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The National Institute for Health and Welfare (thl.fi) is monitoring both the national and international situation. It also provides instructions for preventing infections.

– Do not attend events if you are ill.
– Ensure hand and coughing hygiene and avoid close contact with others.

– Maintain safe distances from the staff and other participants.

– Use hand sanitiser before entering and after exiting the sports halls. Hand sanitiser is available at the activity locations.
– Change into indoor exercise clothes before arriving at the activity location.
– Take your gym bag with you to the hall and leave your outdoor shoes outside the hall.
– The size of the group exercise facilities affects the number of participants allowed. The number of participants has been restricted to be lower than usual to ensure safe distances.
– Please also follow the instructions provided on-site.
– Follow the instructions at hel.fi/helsinki/coronavirus-en if you suspect that you may have contracted a coronavirus infection.
– We recommend taking your own exercise mat/large towel and a small towel with you.
– For to hygiene reasons, we will avoid using sports equipment when possible.
– When using the equipment, it is important to use hand sanitiser before and after class. In some cases, the equipment, such as kettlebells, is disinfected after use based on the instructor’s guidance.

The restrictions may change or be updated as necessary if the safe use of the facilities so requires. We ask for customers’ understanding and request that everyone pays attention to the special arrangements caused by the pandemic. The programme of Helsinki’s Physical Activity event at the Olympic Stadium is subject to change.
